Jade Schaeffer and Lucie Andre made a strong start at the second LETAS event, the Dinard Ladies Open, in Brittany.

The French pair scored opening rounds of three-under-par 67 on a fine but windy day at Dinard Golf on the coast of north-western France.

The duo both carded five birdies and scored 34 over the front nine and 33 on the back nine. The only difference was that Schaeffer double bogeyed the 12th while top ranked French amateur Andre bogeyed the 13th and 18th.

Two strokes behind were France’s Caroline Afonso and Rhian Wyn Thomas of Wales, who both shot one-under 69s. Afonso, who won the inaugural LETAS event at Terre Blanche, holed her second shot at the 271-yard par-four 15th.

Denmark’s Julie Tvede, England’s Jo Clingan and Sahra Hassan of Wales and Frenchwoman Virginie Lagoutte-Clement finished on even par.

Greek amateur Liebelei Lawrence posted a one-over 71 to tie for ninth with England’s Kiran Matharu and Holly Aitchison, as well as Julie Maisongrosse from France.

Earlier in the day French amateur Joanna Klatten recorded a hole-in-one at the 100-yard par-three 17th hole but unfortunately there was no prize
