Travel Day: “plenty of time”

When I go to a tournament, I usually pack between 5-6 outfits. I also like to pack 1-2 outfits to go out for dinner. I usually take 1 pair of golf shoes, some trainers and some casual shoes everywhere I go, I take my bikini, just in case there’s a nice pool at the hotel or nice lake at the place we go. I also make sure I pack all my winter and rain clothes in case there is some unexpected weather.

When I go to the airport I usually check if I have my passport and money before leaving the house and I keep checking throughout the day. I take a small carry-on where I put my clothes and documentation; and my golf cover where I take my clubs, shoes and toiletries. I like to be there with plenty of time, so I don’t have to rush and stress out. Most of the time I look around on the duty free stores for a little bit and then I sit down by the gate to try and use the wi-fi.

Practice Rounds: “aiming spots”

On my practice days, I play 18 holes in the morning and then I go practice on my short game (putting and chipping) in the afternoon. If I felt like I didn’t hit the ball well at the golf course, I will then go and try to get a better sensation in the driving range. At the golf course I like to see where my aiming spots in my tee shots are going to be and the greens, if I happen to miss the green for some reason where the best place is. After finishing practice in the afternoon I would do my mobility exercises and my day finished with some dinner with other players.

Tournament Days:  “find a smooth rhythm”

I like to wake up with a lot of time in advance, so I can do it all very slowly. I wake up, take a shower, dress up and have breakfast. I like hearing to happy/danceable music while I do all this. When I get to the course, I warm up and start hitting balls. Then I go hit a couple of chips to find a smooth rhythm. I finish with a few distance putts and some given putts to build up some pre round confidence.

La Pradera-Colombia Ladies European Tour Lalla Aicha Tour School Qualifying: "Nothing like being home"

I was feeling very excited for the tournament to start especially because it was at my home course. Nothing like being home with family and friends! The tournament was a lot of fun, the course was in great conditions and the staff took really good care of us.

Even though my rounds and scores didn’t come out as expected, I had some amazing shots (almost holed my shot from 104 yards with a 52 for eagle) and it was a great experience and I am very thankful to the LET for letting us have the opportunity and bringing professional women’s golf to Colombia.
